July 2010 Weather Data

July was a wet month with just over double the expected rainfall for the month. The bulk of this came in heavy showers.

The rain was welcome for the plot after the dry months of May and June. We’re now back to 89% of 2010 expected rainfall but the plot still seems to be very dry. I suspect the lack of rain in May and June may reduce the potato crop. The July rain may have arrived a little late for the crop to develop fully.

July 2010 Weather Summary

In general the weather in July has been disappointing after such a beautiful June. Lots of mainly cloudy days with only brief sunny spells. Perhaps August will see a return of some better summer weather! Temperature wise the month has been spot on the expected average.

We’ve had about 80 hours less sunshine in July than June but that didn’t stop the soft fruit from ripening. July has produced a bumper crop of soft fruit much of it has been frozen for use throughout the winter months. The main vegetable harvest is still anticipated.
