Allotment site in Castres
Odette, one of our regular French visitors sent us these photographs of the allotment site in Castres. Castres is one of Wakefield's twin towns and is situated in the Languedoc region of France.
Some aspects of their allotment site or Jardin Familiaux are very similar to our site in Horbury. They seem to use barbed wire to protect their site from unwelcome visitors. A much cheaper option than the one which we are faced with but would we get away with using barbed wire in the same way?
I feel very envious of the tomato crop as our outdoor tomatoes have been a disaster for the past two or three years (2007 -9) courtesy of blight!
