1 - 6 May

 

We had a taste of summer this week

Lots of tilling and bed preparation

Lots of seeds sown - full list is here

First lot of potatoes are pushing through

Apples are in full blossom

Sowed carrots and parsnips

Sowed carrots, radish and planted lettuce in bags

Planted Vivaldi potatoes

Moved sweet peas to cold frame

Watered seeds and young plants

How did that happen?

It's not all down to the weather

7 - 13 May

 

Peas are growing well

First lot of broad beans are flowering

Planted remaining potatoes

Sowed hardy annual seeds

Tilled more beds and changed some layouts

Started to tidy lavender border

Strawberries flowering

Courgette Problems

A May Record Breaker

 

14 - 20 May

 

 

Visited Knaresborough

Started tidying lavender hedge

Frost predicted so covered flowering strawberries and potatoes as a precaution

Carrots and parsnips and some annual flowers have germinated

First lot of sweet peas planted

Some gooseberries have mildew so fruits have been removed/

Sowed more peas, mangetout, beetroot and chard.

Harvested rhubarb and made rhubarb crumble muffins

Topsy, turvy weather

From waterlogged to watering in six weeks

Turning from brown to green

Forecast of a frost

A sting in the tail - late frost

Just for good measure

21 - 27 May

 

Planted the rest of the sweet peas

Planted various flower seedlings

Planted Atena Polka courgettes

Roses flowering in the garden and on the plot

Erected bean frame and prepared the bed for planting

Planyed out overwintered chrysanthemums

Planted more lettuce in bags

Tayberry, blackberry and black raspberry flowering

Fading fruit blossom

A few flowers and a wander round the plot with video

A drop of rain

Still carrying the can

28 - 31 May

 

 

Planted tomatoes in both greenhouses

Started planted runner and climbing French beans

Planted second lot of broad beans

Planted first lot of squash

Resowed annual flowers as slugs had eaten seedlings

Netted and picked first strawberries

Picked first lettuce and radishes

Removed half oi watercress

Short and sweet

It's all white

What rain?

What a spring
