The weather has meant that all has been quiet on the gardening front other that some quick visits to the plot to gather some vegetables.
I mentioned last month That I had sown some seeds produced by my indoor cyclamen - read more on my blog here I have to confess that I didn’t expect that any of the seeds would germinate and I sowed them quite thickly in just a small pot. I also sowed the seeds from a second capsule produced later in another pot. To my surprise the first lot have now germinated like grass. If the seedlings keep on growing I could end up with lots of cyclamen. Read more here.

I bought some lily bulbs to grow in tubs earlier this year which have been patiently waiting to be planted. As it is so wet and soggy I have now planted them in several pots - one or two bulbs to each pot. The pots have been left on our garden greenhouse so that the bulbs have some protection from the elements. There are five varieties which have been kept separate and labelled so if the do grow I can then share then with my sister ensuring we will each get some of every variety

We paid a quick visit to the plot to harvest some fresh vegetables. Our harvest details are here.
I also took the opportunity to have a quick look round and to take a few photos. The early Purple Wight garlic, both on the plot and in tubs in the greenhouse has sprouted. The autumn planted onions also have shoots which seem to be finding their way through the gaps in the weed control fabric.
It’s still far too wet and soggy to do any much needed work on the plot so it looks as though we could be busy in spring.
Buds are visible on the fruit bushes and trees - let’s hope this year they succeed in producing fruit.
In spite of the soggy conditions underfoot there is still plenty to see as the photo album below proves

Remember the lily bulbs that I planted in pots and labelled so carefully. All my good work has been undone as something has been in the greenhouse and dug half of the bulbs up. The bulbs were laying scattered around the pots that they were originally planted in. I’ve replanted them but now they are all mixed up and no doubt whatever had caused the chaos will be back to repeat the performance! I’m not really hopeful that the bulbs will actually grow but we will have to wait and see.
The cyclamen seeds that I sowed earlier are now growing quickly and really need to be pricked out - the second pot of seeds sewn from a capsule produced by a different plant are also now germinating. At the moment the seeds are growing like cress so I’m going to be overwhelmed by small cyclamen!
