This type of locomotive was designed by Nigel Gresley for the steep grades of the West Highland Line. The Great Marquess was built at Darlington in 1938 and was eventually withdrawn from service in 1961.
61994 was bought by John Cameron in the 1990’s. After overhaul The Great Marquess currently operates special trains on the national rail network.
