November’s weather details

The end of November brought meteorological autumn to an end. After some lovely mild weather for November, the last week brought some colder temperatures, plenty of rain and very unusually some snow.

It certainly brought any work at the allotment to an abrupt halt. The first week of December brought some more wet weather meaning that over the last week we’ve had about a month’s worth of rain. Any plans to do any more winter digging at the allotment will have to be put on hold to allow the soil to dry out.

Average Temperatures and Rainfall for Nov 2010 to Nov 2021

November 2021 finished up as a very average sort of a November compared with the last 12 years.  Based on monthly average temperatures it finished sixth warmest out of the last 12 years and in eighth place for rainfall, just slightly below average.

Of course, November brought meteorological autumn to a close as well.

Average Autumn Temperature and Rainfall Records 2010-2021

Once again the temperature and rainfall averages for this autumn are very close to what we might expect. If anything the temperature this autumn was a little below average whilst the rainfall finished up a little bit above average. I must admit that without any weather station figures I’d have guessed we’d had a drier than average autumn with slightly above average temperatures but clearly, that’s not the case.
