We had rain
Visited Nostell where there ws a lovely display of bluebells
Planted remaining potatoes
Onions and shallots have sprouted
Brassicas and broad beans are now growing

Sowed carrot, parsnips and pea
Carrot bed covered with enviromesh
Had torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightning

Another wet week
Visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Planted sweet peas
Cleared spent brassica beds
Potatoes starting to push through

24 - 31 May

At last some better weather
Planted second batch of broad beans
First batch of broad beans are flowering
Planted new strawberry plants
Sorted out both greenhouses
Visited Nostell – all cygnets have survived so far
Cleared and started planting new garden border
Planted new dahlias on the allotment
Resowed peas
Planted left over lupins in perennial bed at the allotment
Erected bean frame
No allotmenting as May rainfall breaks a couple of records
May joins the ton up rain club
