April

April saw the continuation of the Lockdown period due to Covid 19. Luckily, one of the permitted options was to tend an allotment. It did take a considerable while for this to be sorted out and for a time we didn’t know whether or not it would be possible to visit the plot. In any case, we kept visits to a minimum.

The weather decided to be generally very good during Lockdown April with lots of sunny and dry weather. The dry weather did prove to be a bit of an issue as newly sown seeds were in need of regular watering. It wasn’t until the last few days of the month that we had any amount of rainfall at all. In the end, this April finished as the fourth driest month of the last 10 years.

It turned out to be a mild April too with just one frosty night of note. The average temperature for the month finished at 10.2°C (50.4°F). Compared to recent Aprils it ranked in third place just a little bit below 2014 at 10.5°C (50.9°F) but not anything as mild as 2011 when the average was 12.1°C or 53.7°F.
