01 - 08 March
Planted some potatoes in crates in the plot greenhouse
Sowed some carrots and radishes in crates in the ploy greenhouse
Sowed parsley and lettuce in garden greenhouse
Trimmed lavender bed on the allotment.
Clivia that I grew from seed is flowering
Cyclamen seeds taken from houseplants are germinating.
Bought two pot mums.
First sowings on the coldest day of winter
A tentative start to the season
09 - 15 March
Pruned roses at the allotment
Trimmed gooseberries
Greengage is flowering
Camellia has started to flower
Cut grass at the allotment and in the garden
16 - 22 March
23 - 31 March
First week of lockdown but can syll visit the allotment
Replaced passion flower trellis
Started to repair compost bin
Finished pruning gooseberries
Took gooseberry cuttings
Tilled smaller beds
Planted some Casablanca and International Kidney potatoes
Tided some fruit beds and flower beds
Prepared some beds for planting
Carrots have germinated
Saw first peacock butterfly
Lockdown – day 1 – warmest day of the year
Took part in Big Garden Birdcount
Hellebores and snowdrops starting to flower
Bulbs are growing quickly
Bought seed potatoes and onion and shallot sets
