I usually post an update of the previous week’s activities on a Monday but this week I haven’t managed to stick to my routine. I had a couple of days when my shoulder was very painful. In fact the aches extended down my arm. It wasn’t too bad when I was either on my feet or sitting back on the sofa but there was no way that I could sit at my computer downloading photos. To be honest I haven’t much to report as the weather has been foul and we didn’t really get out so I haven’t really much to report.
We still haven’t made it to the allotment and it has been far too wet to work in the garden. Luckily we brought plenty of parsnips and leeks home with us which are stored in the garage and freezers.
Martyn attended another out patients appointment at the hospital, where they were happy that the healing process is progressing as it should.
I did still manage to do some cooking as for some reason this didn’t affect my shoulder.
I made some vegetable and bean ‘burgers’ into which went some of our potatoes and frozen sweet corn. We had some served with a mixture of our frozen cauliflower, peas, broad beans and French beans. A couple were popped in the freezer as a backup for when we want a quick meal
Some of our potatoes, frozen leeks and squash were used with some fresh parsley in a chicken, cider and vegetable casserole. Instead of cider I used some sparkling apple juice, that ended up all over the kitchen floor as a fountain shot out of the bottle when I popped the cork,
We have lots of onions and potatoes left in storage so I decided to make some potato and onion soup. Some portions were popped into the freezer.
I also cooked a turkey pasta dish that used some of our carrots and onion. I used chicken stock instead of broth.
Other than cooking we have been kept busy indoors as we are planning to redecorate and refurnish one of our bedrooms. This means that wardrobes and drawers need emptying before the existing furniture is disassembled and taken away in a few weeks time. Goodness knows where I’ll put everything until the new furniture is installed in May.
Finally, Ruby has been treated to a new coat. Her previous coats have had Velcro fastenings. After a while Velcro loses it’s sticking power so her new coat fastens with a zipper and has a built in harness.
Now Ruby would like the weather to improve so that she can can make more use of her new clothing.
Hopefully, next week’s post will be on schedule as my shoulder is much improved. Fingers crossed that the improvement continues.
For now stay safe and well.
Oh sorry to hear that your shoulder is troubling you Sue. I hope that it’s improving. Tempting foodie pics as always. Ruby looks a treat in her new coat. I hope that the weather improves soon so that she can show it off. The weather here this afternoon is foul enough to deter the most determined plot holder!
Still foul weather here, Anna but my shoulder seems to be on the mend
Aww, look at Ruby posing in her new get-up! So cute.
Hope your shoulder stays better, such a complicated joint and I know it can be really painful.
Some lovely looking grub there. The bean burgers have inspired me to try again.
Ruby likes it when her coat goes on as it signals a walk. She now has a turquoise one too but I had to wait to try it on until we were going out. The trouble is that she gets so excited that it takes ages to fasten her in.
I think my shoulder problem is more muscular, Belinda. maybe the deltoid. It eased overrnight but I has to sleep on my back.
Hope your shoulder improves, Sue and we get some better weather so that we can all get to our allotments
My shoulder is improving Margaret but sadly not the weather
