Wentworth Castle Ruby’s gets some treats
We paid a visit to Wentworth Castle this week. Ruby has to be kept on a short lead at Wentworth Castle so it’s not her favourite place to visit. However, it would be her sixth different National Trust property she had visited and getting a sixth stamp on her passport and some treats. After collecting Ruby’s treats we headed to Stainbourgh Castle and then had a walk through the parkland to see if we could spot any deer.

Harvesting and early signs of spring?
On this week’s walks at Rothwell Park and Nostell Priory, we were on the lookout for any signs of spring. We had a visit to the allotment for the first time since the snowfall and gale force winds.

Out and about with Ruby in between decorating
This week we have been decorating one of our bedrooms. However, we’ve still managed to take Ruby on her regular walks. At Nostell the snow had almost disappeared but some remnants of last week’s snowman still remained. The lake was frozen over. One of the cygnets decided we had food and made a bee line for us. We had time to give Ruby a game of chase before heading home.

Walks with Ruby in a frozen Rohwell Park and Nostell Priory.
The snow that arrived over the weekend of the 4th & 5th January hadn’t thawed completely by the time a cold snap arrived. The result was a covering of crunchy snow in places along with lots of black ice making walking rather dangerous. We had a couple of walks in Rothwell Park and a trip to Nostell Priory. The snow and ice didn’t seem to bother Ruby and she happily ran about as though it was the middle of summer.

Overnight snowfall – Sunday morning
We had a reasonable snowfall through Saturday night into Sunday morning. The forecast is for more snow over the next 24 hours with the temperature expected to remain around freezing.

Happy New Year
Wishing all our viewers a Happy New Year. Feeding the ducks is getting dangerous. I’ll be glad when last year’s cygnets have left!
