Ruby visits the Northern Lights by day at Temple Newsam
A walk with Ruby at Temple Newsam. We thought the Northern Lights event would be all cleared away, but that wasn’t the case. We still managed a decent walk, although some grassy areas were roped off and other paths closed. As we left in the late afternoon, most of the paths were closed as they prepared for another night of the Northern Lights.

A foggy Boxing Day walk for Ruby at Nostell Priory
We decided on a walk at Nostell Priory on Boxing Day. As we left home the sun was attempting to break through the clouds but 20 minutes later as we arrived at Nostell a rather dense mist had descended. It was busy with lots of other people taking a Boxing Day walk.

Wishing you a merry Christmas as we harvest some vegetables for dinner
We visited the allotment to harvest some vegetables for Christmas dinner. We dug up some leeks (Below Zero) and parsnips (Gladiator). We also found a cabbage but I’m not too sure of the variety.

A drab day at the allotment harvesting leeks and parsnips
We needed a few fresh vegetables, so we headed to the allotment on Sunday afternoon. We hadn’t visited for a couple of weeks due to some poor weather. We’ve had a mixture of snow and rain as well as a week of frosty weather so it was a matter of getting Ruby out for a walk rather than visiting the allotment. Through winter, the allotment gets very little sunshine so even on a reasonably bright winter’s day it’s dull and drab at the plot.
