The existing pond filter was installed before the days of specialist pond filters which now take up far less space than my old system. This photograph was taken in 1983 just after the filter system was installed. It has remained mostly unchanged since then although various minor changes to the system have been incorporated.
Ideally I want to keep the filter system operating whenever possible during the renovation works. In order to reduce the amount of space taken up by the filtration system I will have to look at installing one of the proprietary modern filter systems.
My Davis weather station is attached to the framework of the arbour and I want to keep the weather station operational throughout. Once the new summerhouse is in place I can then decide upon the best location for mounting it.
I don’t want to relocate it far from its existing position to maintain a true comparison of recording.
As a temporary measure the arbour post has been left in place, strengthening with a bracing timber and hopefully the weather station will be left fixed in its current position over winter.
