French bean seeds can be planted straight into the soil or in to pots, at 4 – 5 centimetres deep, in a greenhouse.
If planted inside the seeds can be sown earlier in the year.
When the shoot begins to grow you can see the empty seed shell on the end of the shoot. This falls off as the leaves grow.
French beans need more warmth than other types of garden beans.
