I was going through my weather records and updating them to take into account the heatwave which has just ended when I noticed this from 10 years ago today.

That’s the highest rainfall rate I’ve recorded in 13 years. Fortunately, the rain didn’t last long but it deposited 16mm (0.63in) of rain.

It would be very welcome now, although preferable just a little less intense and more prolonged.

Incidentally, the wettest August I’ve recorded was in 2014 with 106.0mm (4.17in) and the driest, last year with 29.2mm or 1.15in. A reminder that so far this August we have had just 2.0mm or 0.1in.
