The flesh of a swede is usually yellow  and the flavour is sweeter and milder than that of a turnip.

Swedes can also stand worse conditions than turnips. Swedes can be left in the ground over winter and dug up as they are needed.

Swedes usually take longer to grow and are harvested when they are quite large.

Turnips grow quickly and are best harvested when they are quite small.
