Garlic can be started off by planting in pots or straight into the ground. When planting garlic you are planting a clove which is a segment of a garlic bulb.
You can buy a garlic bulb from the supermarket and separate each clove. A bulb will be made up of about twenty cloves. Each clove needs to be planted about 2 centimetres under the soil. The pointed end needs to be pointed upwards.
Each clove will grow into a new bulb made up of many cloves.
