Unbelievable crop of quinces – Meeches Prolific<\/h3>

We decided to pick all our remaining quinces. This year it produced an astounding crop of fruit. We also managed to find a super cauliflower and a few remaining courgettes.<\/p><\/div>

Working on the plot – October week 3<\/h3>

The weather at the start of the week was pleasant and we managed a trip to the allotment to do more tidying up. The end of the week turned out to be wet so we only managed one visit to the plot.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Working on the plot – October week 2<\/h3>

We made more progress this week getting beds dug over. There was a little bit of harvesting, mostly quinces but we had a nice cauliflower and Sue picked some Dahlias.<\/p><\/div>

Reflections at Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal and Deer Park<\/h3>

An afternoon walk around Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens. We also had a walk around the deer park and were lucky enough to see some deer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mouse attack – sweet peas eaten<\/h4>

When I sow sweet peas in spring I always cover the seeds with a clear seed tray cover to prevent any mice from eating the seeds. I sowed some seeds a couple of weeks ago and completely forgot about any protection. I got away with it for the first week but then the seeds were discovered. Luckily, I had enough seeds to resow, and this time I remembered to cover them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Working on the plot – October week 1<\/h3>

The main growing and planting season might be over but there is still plenty to do on the plot. It’s all about how much tidying up and preparation for next spring we can do before the winter weather sets in.<\/p><\/div>
