03 March 2024 – Plot visit<\/h3>

We visited the plot on Sunday afternoon. It was too wet to do anything to the perennial bed which we had planned. Instead, Sue sorted out the strawberry bed on plot 42.<\/p>

I decided to uncover the 3 small beds on plot 29 which we are planning on planting up first this year.<\/p>

08 March 2024 – Early Brassica collection<\/h3>

Once again we have decided not to order early brassica plants and have decided to grow our own. I’ve enough seed for 4 separate sowings throughout spring and into early summer of each of these varieties<\/p>

11 March 2024 – Extra shallots sown<\/h3>

The weather continues to be cold and wet so no visits to the allotment. I decided to sow some more shallots as they take up very little space at the allotment.<\/p>

19 March 2024 – Rubbish burnt, Raspberry bed dug over and strawberry beds cleaned.<\/h3>

After a morning shower, we decided on a visit to the plot. Despite the wet start to the morning I wanted to try to burn at least some of the rubbish that had built up over winter. I decided my first job would be to dig over the raspberry bed on plot 30. Sue did more tidying up around the strawberry beds on plots 41 & 42.<\/p>

The poor weather continued. There was a cold wind a few sunny spells and showers. More work in the home greenhouse. Broad bean sown and a few houseplants were repotted.<\/p>

24 March 2024<\/h3>

A dry afternoon so we decided to visit the allotment. One of the main jobs of the day was to erect some new posts for our Loch Ness blackberry.<\/p>

The next major job was to cover the cherry tree to protect it from pigeon attacks.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

Sue removed a few weeds from the horseradish bed and I piled some manure around our Timperley Early rhubarb.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
