Making Christmas cards with Ruby<\/h3>

Harvesting parsnips, leeks & cabbages and swapping parsnips for Brussels sprouts<\/h3>

We needed some fresh vegetables and headed out to the allotment. At this time of the year, we don\u2019t have a whole lot of choices. Once again we were digging parsnips and leeks and were hoping some of our late cabbages would have survived. Our Brussels sprouts have been a bit of a failure this year. However, our plot neighbour Jan has some excellent sprouts but no parsnips so we swapped some parsnips for sprouts.<\/span><\/p>

Swan surprise on Ruby\u2019s walk at Nostell Priory<\/h3>

We took Ruby on her walk to Nostell Priory and although we hadn’t had any rain some parts of our walk we very wet with some very large puddles. Over the last few months, we’d been concerned that we hadn’t seen anything of the family of swans. Some weeks we wouldn’t see any swans at all then a couple of weeks ago we spotted the adults and we assumed this year’s youngsters had departed. This week we were surprised to see the whole family back together sitting by the side of the lake. Luckily we had some food and the swans, cygnets and ducks enjoyed a good feed.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Plenty of puddles on Ruby\u2019s walk at Temple Newsam<\/h3>

We started off trying to get Ruby to avoid all the puddles as we began our walk at Temple Newsam. Ruby usually does her best to avoid puddles but it soon became obvious that it would be impossible to avoid all the standing water.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2023-09-22 A day out with Ruby at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway<\/h3>

In September we had a day out on the North Yorkshire Moors. We planned to have a walk along the old rail trail linking Grosmont and Goathland. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway was holding its annual autumn steam gala on the day of our visit. We planned to capture some video of the trains as well as some of the rail trail walk.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A freezing cold winter\u2019s day at Temple Newsam<\/h3>

Both Sue and Ruby had been under the weather for a few days so there hadn\u2019t been any Ruby walks. The weather had turned cold when we visited Temple Newsam for a walk. The temperature was just above freezing but with the sun shining it was a stunning winter\u2019s day. Some frost still lingered where it was out of reach of the sunshine.<\/p>
