RSPB: Fairburn Ings
Was shaped by coal miming. The lakes were created by subsidence caused through underground mining and also utilised former coal spoil tips. The site was redeveloped to include a mixture of habitats.
Being fairly local to us, we make regular visits so the photos below are just samples. More of our photos can be viewed here.
