5. Last of the demolition

Its a dull and miserable day but not actually raining so my intention is to finish the last of the demolition work around the pond filter and new summerhouse foundation.
We’ve managed the last few years with a small area of timber decking to locate a small table and a couple of chairs to have coffee or perhaps a light lunch overlooking the pond.
The decking has been fine but it does get very slippery when wet. The plan is to take up the decking and flag this area to better fit in with the new foundation to the summerhouse.

I was pleasantly surprised how easily the screws fixing the decking came out. It wasn’t long before the decking boards were removed revealing the framework beneath.
At the moment I’m going to leave this in place as a guide to the level required for the finished paving flags which will tie in to the level of flags around the pond edge. I’ll incorporate some system to drain all the water away from the pond as I don’t want the run off from the newly placed concrete to drain into the pond.
