Crab Apple Border We have two crab apple trees in our garden - one (Malus Profusion) is planted in the lawn in front of the Willow Screen Border, the other is a John Downie (an edible crab) which is planted at the back of a fairly wide flower border. Above photograph taken in July 2008 We also created a very small pond that would provide drinking water and bathing for birds and hedgehogs. Being small this was named ‘The Puddle’ Two photos above were taken in 2006 May 2010 July 2010 At the end of this bed just at the point that it joins our shrub border is a medlar. If allowed it will outgrow its allotted space and so we will have to keep it in check. Puddle Pond
