Trial Potatoes for 2019 ﷯ Apache: Maincrop Apache potato stands out from the crowd. With warm red skin dotted with cream coloured patches, the eye-catching variety is sweet tasting with a buttery chestnut flavour. It’s small, round and has a slightly waxy texture. British Queen: Maincrop This RHS AGM variety is over 100 years old and still highly prized for its yield, shape, floury texture and delicious flavour. Today, Potato 'British Queen' is Ireland's favourite summer crop. The oval, white skinned, floury-fleshed tubers make excellent general purpose potatoes and are particularly good for roasting. Elfie: Second early An award winning variety and a very distinctive 2nd early with delicious, creamy yellow flesh with a rich, sweet and buttery taste. New to the market, Elfe is ideal for boiling, makes wonderful mash and can also be baked. Jazzy: Second Early The small waxy tubers are much more versatile than other salad potatoes and literally bursting with flavour - whether you boil, mash, roast or steam them. This exciting new second early variety has been awarded an RHS AGM for its superb garden performance. Premiere: First Early Popular due to its good all round disease resistance to blight, common scab, powdery scab. Yellow skin and yellow flesh. Firm, slightly dry texture, Oval. Rudolph: Maincrop Inside the deep red skin of Rudolph is delicious white flesh with a smooth creamy texture. It is great for all cooking methods and makes the most superb roast potatoes and baked jackets that are light and fluffy inside! ﷯

Athlete: Second Early

High yields of pale yellow tubers which won't disintegrate on boiling and maintain their superb taste whether eaten hot or cold.

 

Cara: Maincrop

High yields of large, round tubers with excellent resistance to disease and stores well. Boil, mash, saute, bake or roast. Blight tolerant. Colour - white, red eyes. Shape - short oval.

 

Casablanca: First Early

 An all-rounder combining delicious taste and floury texture with good yields. Steam, mash, chip, saute, bake or roast.

 

 

Kestrel: Second Early

A wonderful old fashioned taste, which absorbs less fat when it is cooking. Good for the show bench and resistant to slugs. Colour - white, blue. Shape - long oval. Boil, steam, mash, chip, saute, bake or roast.

 

Nadine: Maincrop

 A variety with mild flavour and waxy texture. Good for salads and boiling.

 

Osprey: Second Early

The Osprey potato was bred from the Kestrel variety around ten years ago. It is characterised by its smooth skin and shallow pink eyes. It has become one of our most widely grown commercial varieties giving the great consistency and appearance.

 

Sarpo Mira: Late Maincrop

This late maincrop variety has it all - unprecedented blight resistance, good slug resistance, vigorous weed suppressing foliage, and it grows well in a wide range of soils. Potato 'Sarpo Mira' produces huge yields of tasty, floury tubers that have a long storage potential.

 

Vivaldi: Second Early

High yields of potatoes that are lower in carbohydrates and calories than other varieties, making them ideal for slimmers! Very versatile, with a unique texture. Colour - white. Shape - oval. New, boil, steam, mash, saute, bake or roast.

 

Winston: First Early

Potato 'Winston' is an early potato that quickly produces delicious potatoes of a good large baking size. Great for baking, roasting and mash.
