Although when the snowdrop first blooms we are still in the throes of winter, for
me the snowdrop is the flower that signals spring is just around the corner. The
first snowdrop to bloom in the garden is a special and cheering sight.
There are lots of varieties of snowdrop - some double and some with yellow markings
but for me you can’t beat the common single flower with the sunlight just catching
the petals.
If you want to plant snowdrops in your garden, your best chance of success is to
plant them ‘in the green’ which mean when they are in full growth. Planting as dry
bulbs is less successful.
